You just got engaged and wonder what to do first?!?

You recently got engaged, and already everyone is asking you when is the date?!? It can be overwhelming and rush you straight away into planning your wedding. WAIT, it can be hard for some but just wait a little bit, gives your partner and yourself a little bit of time to just appreciate the engaged life. For all the excited (noisy) friends and family members, just tell them that you're just enjoying the time for now and pushing the stress of planning for a bit.

But how long before turning that Facebook status from "Engaged" to "Married"? Well, really it all depends on you and your partner, talk about it and see if you want to have a short or a long engagement (on average between 12 to 18 months). If you're not sure which time frame will suits you the best, narrow down some dates. Which season of the year is your favorite?

If you are having a destination wedding in Cairns, make sure it is not during the rainy season. Will it be during the holidays season, can everyone attend. Are some of the venues and vendors you have in mind very busy, some venues and wedding photographers can be booked out up to 2 years in advance depending on the season of the year. If you opt for a Saturday wedding, keep in mind they are more expensive (you're not talking budget yet) and higher in demand.

And that's should be the first thing you do, determine a time frame. 18 months, 12 months, 6 months or why not 3 months (hard but not impossible). Next, we'll talk about setting a budget, I know I know not the fun part. But remember, for now, you are just going to enjoy that newly engaged status for a while!!
